Who’s that bunny? Elementary students compete to name principal’s backyard rabbits for Easter. The naming journey for the bunnies began when Robert Gallo, the principal at two Peel schools, noticed two fluffy bunnies take up residence in his backyard.
Just in time for Easter, two Toronto-area bunnies have been named and are ready to take on the world, one backyard at a time.
The naming journey for the bunnies began when Robert Gallo, the vice principal at both Blessed Michael J. McGivney Catholic Elementary School and St. Julia Catholic Elementary School in Peel Region, noticed two fluffy rabbits taking up residence in his backyard in November. “Nathan’s excited because the bunnies are going to be the ones leaving eggs in the backyard. We’re lucky enough that we get two Easter bunnies,” said Gallo.
“Basically my backyard has become like “Jumanji” at this point, we can’t keep up,” said Gallo, who adds the ducks often return to his backyard in Etobicoke. As for the bunny names, Gallo had some tough choices to make. The submissions for the names were creative, including Bunycé, Alexander Graham Bunny, Rabbit DeNiro and Raburto Gallo, after Gallo.
