“We heard that and everyone heard it, they started clapping,” he said. “And that became our way of dealing with the death of our officer who I knew personally, who was a friend and it was only two years from retirement.” “It was tough,” Vinatieri said about Monday’s incident. “I was so appreciative of the fact that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department showed up, Norwalk, Pico, El Monte, and then we had Irwindale. What that told me was that it doesn’t matter what agency it is, if there’s a problem, law enforcement looks out for each other, lines are irrelevant. We take care of each other because it’s all about being safe.
