Vancouver has yet to win in 2022, but there\u0027s still no panic heading into Saturday\u0027s rematch with playoff foes Sporting Kansas City.
But Vancouver has had two weeks over the international break to get fully healthy, and both Gauld and White are expected to play — starting or off the bench, it’s still to be determined — when the Whitecaps host Sporting Kansas City Saturday at B.C. Place. The game is a rematch of the 2021 opening-round playoff meeting between the two teams, but Sartini says revenge is way down the list of motivations.
SKC have yet to win on the road this year, and make their first visit to B.C. Place Stadium, where they were 2-1 losers last season. But Sporting is 11-4-4 all-time against Vancouver in the regular season, and Peter Vermes — who has coached K.C. longer than the Caps have been in MLS — is 17-1-5 all-time in March.
Vancouver needs to pick up the offensive side of the game, ranking last in MLS with just five shots on target, and only two goals, coming from Lucas Cavallini and Tristan Blackmon.
