How Vader's castle gained its reputation.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Darth Vader operated out of his castle on Mustafar during his time as a Sith Lord, giving the fiery Star Wars world a miserable reputation. Consumed by volcanoes and lava rivers, Mustafar first appeared in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith as the site of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi's fateful lightsaber duel.
In the public eye, Anakin Skywalker's did, too. As the lone witness, Obi-Wan Kenobi shared details of the Mustafar confrontation with a scarce few, and they were all sworn to secrecy. However, Marvel's Darth Vader by Greg Pak revealed that a group called the Amidalans, Naboo loyalists devoted to avenging Padmé, were under the impression that Anakin was a hero and was killed by Darth Vader on Mustafar alongside his wife.
Mustafar Became A Shrine After Darth Vader's Death Following Vader's demise, Mustafar became a place of worship. While Darth Vader was hated by most, he was revered by dark side acolytes that lived on after the original fall of the Sith. Dark side practitioners traveled to the domain of evil, where it became a shrine in the wake of the Empire. In the decades that followed, Vader's castle crumbled, quickly turning into a large field of debris.
