Amishah says it happens to her at least once a week — though it can happen more regularly depending on where she is and who she is around. Despite repeatedly being asked where she is from, Amishah says she does not have a prepared response to the question.While Amishah says she often does not want to speak about her identity with people who are near or perfect strangers, she also feels the need to be a"good" person of colour.
