A rainy day in Happy Valley didn’t keep the fans away from Penn State-Iowa.
The 15th Whiteout in Penn State football history also gave way to the second-largest crowd to ever watch a game in Beaver Stadium. A listed total was 110,830 fans stood in the cold and rain to watch the 7th-ranked Lions put together their best performance of the season in a 31-0 dismantling of No. 24 Iowa.
That attendance figure continued a trend of pushing attendance beyond 110,000 in the team’s biggest games of the season, particularly night kickoff times. That includes the 2023 season opener against West Virginia that drew the fourth-largest attendance figure in school history until Saturday night’s game knocked it to No. 5. The 38-15 win over the Mountaineers came in a helmet stripe game, which was an all-white crowd with blue-striped sections at midfield.
