“It’s important for everybody to plan ahead for their retirement, but this is much more so when people are moving back to Canada,” Mr. Heath says. “They need to crunch the numbers, do the math, understand the implications and be ready and prepared for a return.” “That way, people can assess their trajectory to retirement, whether they can afford to retire back in Canada, [and] where in Canada,” he says.
More broadly, Ms. Matco says she and her colleagues have seen a shift in the past few years in which more clients are looking to move back to Canada after having worked in the U.S.
