.” That’s how media outlets and former Democratic Party officials are referring to the Iowa caucuses, the first early voting event of the 2020 Democratic presidential contest, which dragged on late into the night Monday but produced no conclusive results as of Tuesday morning.
The state Democratic Party found “inconsistencies in the reporting” of the results, ABC News reported, with party chairman Troy Price telling reporters the state Democrats were working to “manually verify” the results from the 1,600 total precincts. One source of the chaos was reportedly the party’s decision to use a new app designed by a private firm called Shadow to record its results. As the, many precinct chairs were unable to log in or even download the app, slowing down response times significantly. Chairs tried to call in the results by phone, but lines were busy.
