Members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission could be headed for a legal collision course with the Ohio Supreme Court, unless the third time proves to be the charm when it comes to approving new constitutionally compliant state legislative maps.

The Ohio Redistricting Commission is days away from the latest court-imposed deadline to pass new state legislative maps. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission could be headed for a legal collision course with the Ohio Supreme Court unless the third time proves to be the charm when it comes to approving new constitutionally compliant state legislative maps.

The redistricting commission has until Thursday to approve new maps under a court order issued last Monday by the Ohio Supreme Court. The court ordered the Republican-dominated commission to draw maps that complied with new constitutional language, approved by voters in 2015 as anti-gerrymandering reforms, that directs the maps to favor each party to win a share of seats that’s closely proportionate to the 54% Republican, 46% Democratic share each party got in the recent statewide vote.
