Ducky is a beloved part of the Land Before Time film and TV franchise, but her dinosaur species has been a constant source of debate among fans.
Ducky has been one of the most popular characters in The Land Before Time since the very first movie, but there's been some uncertainty regarding what dinosaur species she is over the years. Debuting in 1988's The Land Before Time, Ducky joined her friends Spike and Littlefoot on their many adventures and was known for her unstoppable plucky attitude and her unwavering loyalty.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Synonymous with millennial culture, The Land Before Time is remembered as the saddest dinosaur movie, but was an immensely popular movie because of its wide array of characters, each of whom had a unique appeal. Ducky was originally voiced by Judith Barsi in the first Land Before Time movie and was later played by Heather Hogan and Aria Noelle Curzon in the ensuing sequels and spinoffs.
Ducky's herbivorous diet was shown on screen through her consumption of only vegetable matter, and she walked on two back legs exactly like the Saurolophus has been shown in fossil records. Most convincingly, Ducky's head features a distinct crest that juts out and backward, a defining characteristic that separated Saurolophus from other hadrosaurids.
