The rush to review newly released devices means a lot of important information can fall by the wayside. So here are some observations after a few months of using the Pixel 4 XL that you'll find useful if you’re planning on picking up one of the January deals. For all of the Pixel 3’s faults, the second wide-angle selfie camera was a stroke of genius.
and Pixel 5. The option of wide shots, especially with a camera of the Pixel’s quality, makes a lot of difference to what you photograph. Group shots, buildings and vistas are greatly improved by the extra degrees. for not adding a wide-angle lens doesn’t wash with me and when the competition is making as good - if not better - camera tech with as many lenses as possible, it’s time to think again.
Google tends to let its software do the talking instead of pouring resources into aesthetics, and, frankly I’m happy with that compromise. After a few months of using a smartphone you’re less concerned with how your device looks and more worried about what it can do. If you bought a Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL at launch, skip to the next section.
