Motorists are being encouraged to drive to conditions after wet snow fell over the Malahat highway on Monday morning.

The Malahat highway is pictured at South Shawnigan Lake Road, looking south, at 7:19 a.m. in this DriveBC highway cam still.

It added that while the snow was not sticking and accumulating, drivers should still “slow down and drive to the conditions.”Environment Canada put the temperature over the Malahat at a brisk 0.9°C around 7 a.m. Monday, with temperatures predicted to reach a high of 8°C later in the day. Meanwhile, larger vehicles – like box trucks, semi-trailers and buses – must carry tire chains for these highways on Vancouver Island.
