Four-term Westfield Mayor Andy Cook, who spearheaded economic growth but battled with the council and city clerk recently, will not seek re-election.

, which attracts 2.5 million visits each year, is the home for the Indianapolis Colts training camp and a catalyst for the city’s hospitality and tourism industry. A $26 million, 378,000-square-foot indoor event center opened at the park in 2016.Cook also encouraged the city’s investment in Grand Junction, a public park and gathering space in downtown Westfield that opened in 2021 and a mixed-use project of apartments and shops next to it that is under construction.
“I’ve been Westfield’s first and only mayor as we have grown from a small farming community into a city of over 50,000, listed by national publications as one of the safest and most desirable places to live in America," Cook said in the new release.The mayor has had a combative tenure with the current City Council after years of cooperation with previous councils. In 2019, three new members came into office demanding more transparency from the administration.
Cook has accused the council of thwarting economic development at a time when the population is booming and constituent demands are as high as they’ve ever been. The councilors say they are simply acting as a check and balance for the mayor’s biggest projects.
