Alberton’s Collaborative Emergency Centre at Western Hospital is closed until Sept. 15 - Stu NeatbyALBERTON, P.E.I. — Health P.E.I. is shuttering Western Hospital's Collaborative Emergency Centre until mid-September due to ongoing staff shortages.
The centre will close the evening of Monday, Aug. 1 through to Sept. 15, Health P.E.I. said in a release. “Like everywhere else in Canada, our health care system is under extreme strain, and that’s not going to end any time soon,” said Health P.E.I. CEO Dr. Michael Gardam. “It’s better to make these calls in advance, so we can deploy our resources to provide the best care possible. And when I say ‘resources’, I mean people — people who are working tirelessly to care for the health of all Islanders.”
