A driver that was previously prohibited for driving impaired and unlicensed has been arrested after hitting a four-year-old child in Langford.

A driver that was previously prohibited due to driving impaired and unlicensed has been arrested after hitting a four-year-old child in Langford.

On April 27 around 4:20 p.m., West Shore RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, and the Langford Fire Department responded to the 100-block of Bellamy Link for reports a driver hit a young girl. Officers learned the child was riding her bike on the road when she veered from the curb and was hit by the driver of a grey 2002 Mazda Tribute.The driver remained on scene and officers determined he had previously been prohibited from driving due to driving impaired and driving without a license.

Officers took a breath sample and determined he did have alcohol in his system, but it was below the legal limit.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.The 37-year-old driver was arrested for prohibited driving and released on an undertaking with conditions to not be found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
