Inside Houston's 'Back to the Future' home, designed by famed architect behind the Astrodome, Post
You don't need a DeLorean to get back to the 1980s with this Houston home that recently went on the market., a retro architectural gem sits boasting a half-moon court yard, thick glass-block walls and a standout floating staircase.Really making the home special is that is was the last project by local architect Ralph A. Anderson, Jr., whose previous work included the Astrodome and Houston Post building. The 3,294-square-foot custom home was built in 1988 and has only had two owners.
At two-stories high, the home has one bedroom, two and a half bathrooms, an elevator, two-car garage and access to a community pool. Original features of the home include the curved, glass-block wall and the silestone kitchen countertops imported from Spain. The home went on the market less than a month ago at $465,000 and is now pending sale, says listing agent Mark Fontenot with Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty–Central Houston Brokerage.
"Before listing it, I couldn’t figure out if it would be highly attractive for buyers because of how unique and historical it is or if it would sit on the market for six months because it was so different," Fontenot said."I’m grateful it was the former and loved seeing the attention and respect it got!"
And there could be no difference between the home's past and its future as the buyer's agent has said they don't plan on changing anything with the house.
