“We’ve been wanting to, for a while, figure out how to deal with any accidents involving bigger vehicles, whether it’s bigger versus small or bigger versus pedestrian,” Dunfield said in an interview following the Oct. 28-29 training seminar.

“He showed us a lot of stuff with our existing pool that we may not have thought of, and then the importance of a large response because it’s going to be very resource-intensive,” said Dunfield. “You’re going to need a lot of resources to throw at something like a tractor-trailer on top of a car.” Paul Maynard, a deputy chief with the Hantsport Fire Department, stopped by the event to observe the training. He agreed there’s a lot of truck traffic and heavy equipment traffic travelling throughout West Hants and the Annapolis Valley and praised the training opportunity.
