Despite the unseasonably cold coastal waters, daytime highs will rise fast and far enough to cause the marine layer to burn off earlier in most of the county
The unseasonably cool, cloudy weather that most of San Diego County has experienced for months will be replaced this weekend by above-average temperatures and an earlier burn-off of the marine layer from Oceanside to Imperial Beach, said the National Weather Service.
We’re not talking heat wave, though it might feel like it in San Diego, which is in its eighth consecutive month of below-average temperatures. San Diego’s daytime high could hit 71 on Friday, 73 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday, forecasters said. The seasonal high is 71.The weather will be warmer primarily because a large high-pressure system is building along the West Coast. The warm-up is being moderated by ocean currents, which are bringing unseasonably cold water south to the county’s coastal zone. Sea-surface temperatures are in the 61- to 63-degree range. That’s several degrees below average.
