Jewish community in Lancaster County comes together to support Israel
The Jewish Community Alliance of Lancaster is holding a 'We Stand with Israel' event at a synagogue outside Lancaster City. The vigil, consisting of prayers and songs, is to show unity with Israel in the wake of the deadly and surprise Hamas attacks on Israel over the weekend and Israeli retaliatory bombings of Gaza.Organizer and Jewish Alliance Board President Miriam Baumgartner says the Jewish community feels vulnerable and needs a shoulder to lean on.
She did not want to give the exact location of the event due to security concerns, instead, word was spread throughout the Jewish community. She says Christian friends and neighbors have been supportive as well.Baumgartner says what's taking place is 'not war but terrorism.' She says Israeli forces must destroy Hamas. She and other congregation members have friends and relatives there. She's confident Israel will win but says she doesn't know what will come next.
