China's Chang'e 6 lunar probe recently returned from the far side of the moon with rock samples. As competition for space resources heats up, questions about regulation and international cooperation are particularly salient.Kedis argues that because the way countries engage with the moon has changed since the days of the Apollo program, coordination efforts between countries must be made:"I think we should really look at the means of engagement.
And one of the best um records that we have for that is the current Artemis Accords, which has 43 signatories as of this month, which really lays out a common set of principles for peaceful engagement in outer space and really the role of international partnerships in achieving a sustainable presence on the moon.
So what can we be doing in terms of policy in response to other nations efforts when it comes to space?Yeah, I mean, so we are certainly at an evolutionary moment in space. But from that stance, we can really only work with what we have and what we know right now with keeping an eye toward other activities.
Ago, Kelly, when you take, when you look forward and, and you talk about how this space age right now is so different than what we have seen in the past. And what does that tell us then about future growth or ambitions when it comes to space and what is achievable versus what is not?So as I mentioned, there are the ways that we engage in space now, but there are also all of these future use cases that are not yet at a scale that should be examined for their regulatory implications in the future.
