'We get to keep 40,000 public servants': Premier gets 'no joy' from slashing payrises | Rabe9
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says she feels no sense of joy to see the industrial umpire side with her government by cutting public sector wage growth, as unions warn the decision marks a turning point for industrial relations in the state.
However Unions NSW Secretary Mark Morey said the IRC decision had destroyed all goodwill within the public sector, and marked a new period of industrial relations for the state. The IRC found that employees "do not come into these proceedings with an entitlement to a particular wage increase," which casts doubt over when public sector workers could return to a 2.5 per cent wage increase.
