On one hand, the corporate self-care industrial complex preaches the necessity of bath bombs and healing crystals to achieve some form of enlightenment on a per-person scale. “The danger of some of these self-help solutions, even if they’re based in real evidence and real psychological research, is that they individualize problems,” Mehlman Petrzela explains.
