Biden took issue with a question asking whether the Obama administration had made a mistake in its tough immigration enforcement: “We didn’t lock people in cages, we didn’t separate families.'
The debate opened with former Vice President Joe Biden taking a swipe at the costs of Medicare for All, saying his plan is more affordable.
Ms. Warren said those at the very top, the richest individuals and large corporations, will pay more and middle class families pay less. The pivot toward lowering consumers’ costs takes aim at President Trump, who has focused much of his health-care platform on actions he says he’s taken to lower health care costs. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota said her public option plan would lower costs while preserving choice -- again focusing on lowering what people now pay for their coverage.
Mr. Biden pointed out that Ms. Warren and Mr. Sanders did not answer the question about taxes going up. "This is about candor, honesty, big ideas," Mr. Biden said, his voice rising.
