In the two years since George Floyd was murdered, a lot has changed across society and a lot hasn’t.
wo years after George Floyd’s tragic murder forced corporate America to confront its role in perpetuating racism, Black Americans were asked which institutions they trusted to push for change. They named nonprofit organizations, small businesses and even the government. Big business ranked dead last.
Disappointment in corporate America is just one of the findings from a survey of Black Americans conducted for For The Culture by The Harris Poll to mark the second anniversary of Floyd’s death. “The fact is that we’re in a struggle every day for dignity, respect and humanity,” says attorney Benjamin Crump, who has represented numerous Black families affected by police brutality. “In America, it’s a struggle every day. It’s just mentally draining.”
