Much of what Heard recounts is seen on the body-cam footage released: officers order her to step out; to pull her shirt up; to exit the vehicle; and to walk backwards towards them. A female officer approaches, saying she ran a check on her license plate and that it said the plate was not registered to her car.“Why is my baby in cuffs?” she says in the footage.
“That’s when they turn to my husband and my nephew, ‘We know there’s a gun in the car. Be smart because we will shoot you,’” Demetria Heard recounted.Advertisement
