Wave's 18-year-old star says she feels 'extremely blessed to stay in an amazing city like San Diego'; Wave host Angel City on Saturday afternoon
While the world’s attention is focused on the ongoing Women’s World Cup, the San Diego Wave are getting some business done. The club and forward Jaedyn Shaw, 18, have agreed to an extension through the 2026 season — the longest deal allowable under National Women’s Soccer League bylaws. Shaw’s new deal comes following extension deals with goalkeeper Kaiden Sheridan and midfielder Naomi Girma.
Shaw made her debut with the Wave almost exactly a year ago, scoring in her first match. She finished with three goals over seven games, and has added four goals and one assist in 15 regular-season games this season.Shaw and the Wave will take on rival Angel City FC on Saturday afternoon at Snapdragon Stadium. The match is part of the UKG Challenge Cup, meaning it won’t count in the NWSL standings.
“Jaedyn is a top, young attacking talent and has an exciting future ahead of her in San Diego,”Wave General Manager Molly Downtain said in a news release. “She’s been central to so many key moments for the club and we look forward to creating more of those moments for years to come.”
