Julia Gosling also scored for Toronto (6-2-4-6) with a power-play goal of her own, burying the puck past Charge goalie Emerance Maschmeyer with 23.4 seconds remaining in the second period. Ottawa (6-0-3-8) had jumped out to an early lead thanks to a power-play marker from Gabbie Hughes. The enthusiastic crowd of 17,518 witnessed a captivating goaltending duel between Maschmeyer, who made 31 saves on 34 shots, and Kirk, who stopped 33 shots.Toronto was without reigning league MVP Natalie Spooner, who had returned from injury in Wednesday's win over Minnesota. With this being the team's third game in five days, Spooner was given the afternoon off for “load management.”
