While developing the computer code, they apparently ran into all kinds of unexpected rabbit holes — including how to accurately model things like fluid dynamics and chemistry. Turns out building a simulated engine has perhaps an equal number of challenges as hammering one together in real life.
As with most creators these days, the brains behind this simulator has assembled a Patreon account in which members of the public can donate a few bucks to grease the wheels of commercial development. Until then, AngeTheGreat has made the raw code for this project freely available, meaning those of you with a nose for C++ programming language can have a bit of fun working through the intricacies of making an inline-seven engine come to life.
