The Warriors face the Suns, Jazz and Lakers in the final three home games of their season, with a quick trip to Sacramento planned in the middle.

Injured, out of shape and out of sync, the Warriors are falling backward in the standings ahead of the playoffs. They have six regular-season games left to maintain precarious footing as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, and the path forward isn’t easy.

“Injuries are part of the game, and we haven’t been full strength,” Andre Iguodala said after returning to the Warriors in Monday’s loss after missing 21 consecutive games with a back injury. Without Curry — and with his return timeline murky — the Warriors made it a goal to rediscover their defensive identity. Somehow, they’ve strayed further from the light. Before Green went out Jan. 9, the Warriors were No. 1 in defensive rating . Since, they’ve been 12th — and even worse since he returned March 14, sitting 19th.

Phoenix went 11-4 without point guard Chris Paul — who missed 15 games with a right thumb avulsion fracture — and 18-3 in games without center Deandre Ayton. They should be nearly fully healthy Wednesday, perhaps without forward Cam Johnson, who missed Sunday’s game with a quad injury.
