Radnor Township officials issue a warning to residents after a person was bite by a fox while walking their dog.

Officials are warning residents after a woman was bit by a fox while walking her dog in Radnor Township.

According to police, the incident happened on Monday along the 400 block of W. Wayne Ave. right near a popular walking path that goes through a wooded area. Police said the dog walker went to pick up a stick and that's when a fox appeared and bit her in the hand.Sign up for NBC Philadelphia newsletters.

"The big thing in this case, this person had a leash, they had full control of the dog. But if you are going to walk your dog or you're going to be in one of our park facilities, we have some facilities we allow dogs to go without leash. Just make sure you have them under control,and make sure they can come back on your command that way you can keep them and you safe," Randor Township Animal Control Michael Maratea told NBC10.

Officials are urging those in the area to be aware of their surroundings and report any sightings of the animal to police by dialing 9-1-1.On Monday, March 18, 2024, Radnor Township PD received a report of a person bit by a fox while walking their dog . The fox was reported to have appeared sick.
