The next iteration of Warner's streaming plans shouldn't overlook this obvious money-making audience-pleasing venture.
It would depend on Zack and Deborah Snyder deciding they wanted to re-enter negotiations and get involved with Warner’s DC brand again, which is far from a certainty. But if a real offer was made and it was clear they could pursue their vision within budget and release plans that everyone can agree to, then I think there’s a good chance the Snyders would seriously consider it.
That’s the ideal version of the scenario. But an alternative worth considering is a high-budget anime minseries/film of the sequel, if live-action is too expensive and time-consuming for the entire production cast and crew at this point. And here’s a big selling point to anyone who doesn’t like the sound of this because they specifically dislike Snyder’s film — it can also apply to other DC multiverse content, such as the original Tim Burton Batman movies, or the Nolan movies, or the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, or your favorite DC superhero TV show. The point is, in theory the studio/streamer could mine the entire nostalgic toy box of DC’s past live-action films and shows to do revivals set in that part of the multiverse.
There’s already over 200 million combined subscribers to HBO on cable, HBO streaming and online accounts, and Discovery+. While obviously the streaming side’s subscription rate has been a struggle for Warner in several regards, they have the total audience if they can just figure out how to smartly herd them in the right direction.
