From joe_warmington: Always risky to hurl F-bomb on live TV when host is an old homicide detective

Remember this is always a situation where there is a risk of somebody acting like an idiot. There have been many previous incidents including during the 2019 NBA Finals between the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors when a man on CP24 made vulgar slurs to on air reporter Kelly Linehan about Steph Curry’s Canadian wife Ayesha Curry.

You would think nobody would be stupid enough to try this with Ryan, whose best-selling book The Ghosts that Haunt Me chronicles his career filled with many disturbing cases including probing 100 homicides. But one thing you will notice in that book – which I was honoured to write the foreword for – is Ryan is all about civil, respectful and honest behaviour.

Aware of that and reading the inebriated mood of many of the fans, Ryan signalled to those he was interviewing to not even try to mess with him.Article content “I am going to talk to you guys, but I am going to tell you right now, watch your language,” Ryan warned. Ryan was not fooling around. But some did not listen — especially one superfan with a painted blue face.If looks could kill. Ryan was not pleased. He had no time for that nonsense and quickly waved the guy away and said, “We’re done with that.”Actually, this kind of thing is deemed illegal by Toronto Police. In 2019, the man so rude in the after-game interview was charged with public mischief.
