Toronto’s Ward’s Island ferry service will return to its regular winter schedule on Tuesday, following a temporary suspension due to ice buildup on the harbor. Residents are advised that the ferry service was disrupted since Sunday to allow for the repair of a fire boat used for ice breaking.

Ferry service to Ward's Island will resume its normal winter schedule on Tuesday after being temporarily suspended since Sunday, the city announced. The disruption stemmed from ice buildup on the water surface, requiring the Toronto Fire Services to repair a fire boat used for ice breaking in the harbor. Once the fire boat was operational, crews returned to breaking up the ice, clearing the path for ferry service .

During the suspension, residents seeking access to the Toronto Islands were advised to utilize the bus service operating from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. This bus service connects to several existing bus and streetcar lines, providing alternative transportation options. 'Passenger vessel service is expected to be back online once the path is clear and it is safe to do so,' stated Russell Baker, a spokesperson for the city, on Monday
