York United captain Roger Thompson headed a slick cross from Mo Babouli and beat Wanderers keeper Yann Fillion in the 63rd minute to snap a 1-all deadlock and lifted York to a 2-1 victory before a sell-out crowd Monday afternoon at the Wanderers Grounds. The stunning win and the three points that go with it vaults York into fifth place in the CPL standings, ahead of the Wanderers . Each team has 32 points but York, which has played one more match, holds the tiebreaker. The top five clubs at season’s end qualify for the post-season.
