Initial election results for a four candidate race vying for a pair of at-large seats on the Walnut Creek City Council has so far favored two of the incumbents.

Councilwoman Cindy Silva appears on her way to clinching a fifth term in office with 10,149, or 34%% of votes counted. In office since 2006, Silva, 68, has seen the city through numerous new laws and developments. But she resists offering concise opinions on the city’s major issues — insisting, rather, that the council’s incremental work should be treated with nuance.

These results, posted shortly after 8 pm, represent Vote by Mail ballots and in person early votes from prior to election day.
