Walmart weighs whether to reopen all Chicago-area stores damaged by looting

Walmart may not reopen all of its Chicago-area stores there were damaged by recent looting.

"We are still assessing the damage," a Walmart spokesperson told Business Insider. "No decision has been made."Several stores in the area, including Walmart Supercenter locations and grocery-focused Neighborhood Markets, were damaged by looting in the past couple weeks. Walmart is now in the process of assessing the damage, and has not yet decided whether it will reopen all locations that were impacted, a company spokesperson told Business Insider on Tuesday.Crain's Chicago Business previously reported that Walmart may not reopen all its stores in the area."We are proud to re-open our Pullman store and serve the community once again," the Walmart spokesperson said, referring to a store located at 10900 S. . "But I got a resounding, 'Mayor, this is our city, this is our home,' from a lot of other retailers and I would hope that Walmart would follow suit."
