That’s how Olivia Elliott described the Wallace Lady Govs' late season turnaround that has resulted in a trip to the Division II Softball South District Tournament.
That milestone 700th win came in the final game of the regular season. Savannah Jenkins hit a two-run walk-off homer to win the game. Now the Lady Govs are on their way to Alabaster, the site of District Tournament. That was the goal from the beginning. In order to prepare for the tournament, the Lady Govs have been practicing at Dothan’s James Oates Park. That’s because the facility has artificial turn fields, the same type they will be playing on at the district tournament. The players say these fields are quite different.
