Anyone interested in the future of forests in Nova Scotia are invited to attend a woodland conference Saturday, April 20 in Milford. The annual event rotates between counties each year to bring it close to residents living throughout the central region of the province.Included in the registration is a hearty lunch and snacks throughout the day. As well, one lucky participant will win a new professional chainsaw as the grand door prize.
Mercedes Peters, of the Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia, will provide an Indigenous perspective and an update on the exciting Mi’kmawey Debert Cultural Centre project. Woodland owners who are also nature enthusiasts will also be interested in hearing a Ducks Unlimited presentation on best management practices for forested wetland species-at-risk birds.WALK IN THE WOODS: A great opportunity for the environment and people interested in owning forest landAs well, landowners may be keen to hear about silviculture funding and Fiona cleanup funding that is available via the Association for Sustainable Forestry.
