RSV starts spreading more widely in the fall. The virus kills 6,000 to 10,000 older adults and hospitalizes 60,000 to 160,000 every year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.has said eligible adults should talk to their doctor about whether they should receive the shot.Pfizer started directly shipping its RSV vaccine to customers last month and has sufficient stock to meet demand, a company spokesperson said. CNBC has reached out to GSK for comment.
Pfizer's shot was 85.7% effective at preventing more severe lower respiratory tract disease during the patient's first RSV season after vaccination.
