Wagner Group gloats over death of U.S. volunteer in Bakhmut, claims ISW

The Institute for the Study of War on Tuesday said Prigozhin and his mercenaries were"gloating" over the recent death of a U.S. citizen volunteering to fight for Ukraine in Bakhmut.

"We're just trying to get him home for proper burial," Paul Maimer said."I think he's deserving to be put to rest in a veterans cemetery. He might not have been fighting for our country, but he was fighting for the right reasons." The U.S. Department of State has not officially confirmed Maimer's death, although a spokesperson told multiple outlets that the department was"seeking additional information" and"aware of the reports of the death of a U.S. citizen in Bakhmut."
