Christopher Gorman was sentenced in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court March 3 to two years less a day house arrest, after Justice Daniel Boone determined that while the amount of drugs involved — two kilograms of high-purity cocaine — was significant, Gorman’s role in the operation was minor. Boone rejected Gorman’s arguments for a reduced sentence due to a violation of his privacy by Canada Post and allegations of verbal and physical abuse by the two RNC officers who arrested him, though the judge accepted both situations involved misconduct.
One of the officers acknowledged having made the “three to five” comment and told the court he had filed an internal complaint about the other constable for making the other comments.
