NEW YORK -- A vigil was held Monday night for a Queens school crossing guard who was struck and killed while on the job in Woodhaven.Krystyna Naprawa, 63, was hit by a dump truck on Friday morning.Mayor Eric Adams joined her family and colleagues for a candlelight vigil. Naprawa was remembered as a longtime protector of others.'She was a beautiful person.
Everybody loved her,' daughter Barbara Naprawa said. 'She was an angel. She's my forever angel.''Krystyna wanted to make sure those babies got across the street in a safe way. This is what they do every day,' Mayor Adams said.Police said Krystyna Naprawa was in the crosswalk when she was struck. The truck driver was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian.
