A study looking at the Victoria ACT program says the police data indicates the program leads to fewer police interactions.

looking at the Victoria Assertive Community Treatment program says the police data indicates the program leads to fewer police interactions by people involved in the program.is a team-based care program for people experiencing serious mental illnesses. The ACT teams include health professionals and police officers with a focus on mental health.

“On average, ACT clients experienced fewer police occurrences after being admitted to the ACT program, although there were differences across the type of occurrence, as well as characteristics of the clients,” the The study does note that it only looked at VicPD data, so the clients possibly had interactions with other police agencies that would not have been captured in the data.
