Afghanistan veterans and other members of the Canadian Forces are specially invited to attend the public event.

Veterans Affairs Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor will lay a wreath at Victoria’s B.C. Afghanistan Memorial on Wednesday.

She will be at the memorial, located at Courtney and Quadra streets, to take part in a 4 p.m. ceremony. Taylor will be joined by retired brigadier-general Joseph Gollner, who is the president of the B.C. Afghanistan Memorial Society, and retired lieutenant-colonel Paul Paone.Taylor will follow the afternoon event by attending a 7 p.m. parade and ceremony in Esquimalt to mark National Peacekeepers’ Day. Canada had its largest single-day loss of lives during peace operations on Aug.

The parade will begin at the corner of Admirals Road and Esquimalt Road at 6:50 p.m., with the ceremony beginning at the cenotaph in Esquimalt Park about 7 [email protected]
