Vasyl Lomachenko's goal is clear, with Ukrainian set to return to the boxing ring this year
Vasyl Lomachenko is eyeing a return to boxing this year and has now declared himself ready to fight again.Mikey Williams/Top RankLoma lost his lightweight belts to Teofimo Lopez in a big upset at the end of 2020, but bounced back last year with two good wins which put him in position to fight for the titles again.Lopez in 2021 and then went looking for his first defence.
Lomachenko was first in line to get this opportunity, however declared himself unavailable to take the fight.for his local territorial defence force in the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky region. The Ukrainian was offered the chance by government officials to leave the country to train for the Kambosos Jr fight, but turned it down to stay and defend his homeland if needed.
As a result, America’s Devin Haney fought Kambosos Jr instead, masterfully outboxing the Australian to crown himself undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO lightweight world champion.Now, it appears Lomachenko is coming back and his goal will be clear – to take those titles. Top Rank’s Todd DuBoef informed several reporters on Thursday night that Loma has decided to leave Ukraine and fight again.As he approaches the latter stages of his career, Lomachenko will have only one thing in mind.His goal since entering the lightweight division has always been to own all four of the world titles as undisputed champion.Now, he must beat Haney if he is to take them.
