Rare doubleheader weekend sees Vancouver host the Albany FireWolves tonight after losing in OT Friday on the road versus the Calgary Roughnecks

Curtis Dickson, the Roughnecks star from Port Coquitlam who has repeatedly haunted the Warriors’ franchise, bagged the winner Friday at 0:31 of the extra session, spinning and getting off a shot that beat Vancouver netminder Alex Buque through a screen just as the shot clock was about to expire.

“A bit of a goofy play, to be honest, but we haven’t been getting a lot of those bounces this year,” Dickson told reporters in Calgary. “So it was kind of nice to get it off a broken play and find a loose ball and chuck it on net — and luckily, it went in. I threw a shot on net and missed the net, and it bounced right back to me. Just kind of knew the shot-clock was running out and turned and fired one on the cage.

Keegan Bal and Logan Schuss both had two goals and three assists for Vancouver. Buque made 35 saves. Dickson had four goals and one assist and Christian Del Bianco made 37 stops. The FireWolves are owned by former Richmond Jr. Outlaws star Oliver Marti. They feature Joe Resetarits, who was second in the NLL in points and third in goals Saturday morning.More news, fewer ads, faster load time:
