The race/walk/wheel began in 1985 and has drawn pre\u002DCOVID\u002D19 levels of participation.
“I’ve started running with a new crew and we decided to enter the Sun Run this year,” said Trevor Blades, who took up running a decade ago while in his early 20s and will be competing in his third Sun Run.
Because of COVID-19, the 2020 race was cancelled six weeks before the race was scheduled to run and the 2021 event was held virtually, with physical runners returning last year and drawing 23,000 participants. Trevor Blades has been running for about a decade and will take part in Sunday’s Vancouver Sun Run, his third time entering the event.Like Blades and the Donnellys, Sun Runners were at B.C. Place to pick up their race packages on Friday , which included their bibs and timing tags.
“It’s inspiring to see the hundreds of volunteers who return year-after-year to make The Vancouver Sun Run possible,” Harold Munro, editor-in-chief of The Sun, said. “Rain or shine, they are the true heroes of this event.”Article content
