For 14 years, Nimbus offered diploma programs in audio engineering, live sound mixing and recording and advanced studio production, providing students with the connections and know-how to break into the music industry.
With small class sizes, those enrolled received mentorship from industry professionals including Richardson and Ezrin — who have produced tracks for big names including Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, U2, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Taylor Swift. “Making music is not only fun, but fulfilling,” Richardson said. “It brings a sort of satisfaction that people who work at a bank don’t get to have.”
The co-founder says the private school — which had two campuses with studios in Vancouver — was unique because classes were taught by people currently working as music producers and engineers.Article contentJust last year, one of the school’s graduates, David Pimentel, won a Grammy for his work helping produce Jon Batiste’s We Are album. Another alumnus Kelani Lim won an Emmy award in 2018 for her work on the TV show Rick and Morty.
