Vancouver Police warn that high-risk sex offender Skylar Wayne Pelletier is residing in the city, posing a risk to women. He has prior convictions for sexual assault and assault.
The Vancouver Police Department has issued a public warning about high-risk sex offender Skylar Wayne Pelletier, who is now residing in Vancouver. The warning, issued Friday night, states that Pelletier poses a significant risk to women in the community. This is the second such warning in as many months, following a similar alert from the Surrey Police Service on Sept. 14, when Pelletier was reported to be living in Surrey.
Prior Convictions and Recent Arrest
Pelletier has a criminal history that includes convictions for sexual assault, breaking and entering, and assault. In 2024, Vancouver police arrested him after responding to reports of a man masturbating while looking into homes near Woodland Drive and Broadway. He has also been the subject of previous Vancouver police warnings in 2021 and 2024.
According to the VPD, Pelletier is an Indigenous man with short black hair and brown eyes. He stands 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 180 pounds.
Court-Imposed Conditions and Monitoring
Pelletier will be monitored by Vancouver Community Corrections. He must abide by several court-ordered conditions: he may not contact any victims, he may not consume drugs or alcohol, he must obey a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and he must not possess knives.
Anyone who sees Pelletier violating any of these conditions is urged to call 911 immediately, the VPD said.
Ongoing Public Safety Concerns
The repeated warnings highlight ongoing concerns about high-risk offenders in Metro Vancouver. In September, Surrey Police issued a similar alert when Pelletier was residing in that city. The frequency of these warnings underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in monitoring individuals with violent and sexual offense histories.
Police continue to ask the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of Pelletier that contravene his release conditions. With files from CTV News Vancouver’s Andrew Weichel.
