Vancouver Police have issued a public warning about high-risk sex offender Skylar Wayne Pelletier, who will reside in the city and poses a significant risk to women.
The Vancouver Police Department has issued a public warning about high-risk sex offender Skylar Wayne Pelletier, who will be residing in Vancouver. The warning, issued Friday night, states that Pelletier poses a significant risk to women in the community. This is the second such warning in as many months, following a similar alert by the Surrey Police Service on Sept. 14.
Second Warning in Two Months
Less than a month ago, on Sept. 14, the Surrey Police Service advised the public that Pelletier would be living in Surrey. Now, the Vancouver Police Department has issued a similar warning, indicating that Pelletier will be residing in Vancouver. The repeated warnings underscore the concerns authorities have about Pelletier's risk to the public.
Criminal History and Previous Arrests
Pelletier has a criminal history that includes convictions for sexual assault, breaking and entering, and assault. Last year, Vancouver police arrested him while responding to reports of a man masturbating while looking into homes near Woodland Drive and Broadway. He has also been the subject of Vancouver police warnings in 2024 and 2021.
Physical Description and Monitoring
According to the VPD, Pelletier is an Indigenous man with short black hair and brown eyes. He stands 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 180 pounds. Pelletier will be monitored by Vancouver Community Corrections, police said.
Conditions and Public Advisory
Pelletier must abide by several conditions: he may not contact any victims, he may not consume drugs or alcohol, he must abide by a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and he must not possess knives. Anyone who sees Pelletier in violation of any of these conditions is asked to call 911, the VPD said.
The Vancouver Police Department continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to remain vigilant. With files from CTV News Vancouver's Andrew Weichel.
